Question Getting ALSA to load when booting for Echo Layla24

Hi y'all....I am unable to find this on the forum....in a way I can understand.
I'm good with Windoze and I'm learning about Linux little by little, but can't get this after a couple of weeks.

I installed ALSA drivers for my Echo Audio Layla24 sound card. I used alsaconf to configure the unit.....I can hear a sound coming from the sound card during the testing. **That is the only time I can hear anything from the card**

All other sounds come from the onboard MB sound (which I don't want to use with recording applications).

Looking in the file system, the Echo module is under PCI...whereas the onboard sound is under Sound.

    Long story short:

What are the exact steps to load my Echo ALSA driver to get sound to work?

As it is, nothing shows in Audacity to choose as the interface. I've pulled my hair out to try and find how to do this in an understandable manner. Anything I've found is vague to me. I know I have to add something somewhere...I tried adding something in the etc/sysconfig section (something like that...I'm at work) in the MODULE LOAD ON BOOT section....it didn't work.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Hey,

First of all, you should check if you can hear any audio when you're logged in as root. If you can then open YAST, security and users, group management, then check the audio box for your user account. I think this should fix your problem.

    Good luck.
