Cool how to clone the entire hard disk?

    Dear Linux experts:

I have two almost identical computers (except that one computer has larger hard disk than the other computer). One computer already has suse 10.1 OS installed + some other software. How can I clone the entire hard disk to the hard disk of the second computer? Thanks!

    Cool partimage?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply!

I used partimage on Knoppix LiveCD before. But, this can only create partition images. After installing SuSE, it creates several partitions, such as root, boot, swap.., does it mean that I have create images of each partition? Do I need to create partition table too? How about grub?

Can partimage create "one" image file of the whole hard disk?

    Thanks!

    Cool partition magic?

    Hi, Tim,

It seems to me, Partition Magic is more for partitions (re-size, create, merge). I do not see anything in cloning the whole hard disk.

Norton Ghost may be closer. But, I am hoping to find a tool that runs on Linux first. On the other hand, Acronis seems like the exact tool to use, but, it runs on Windows, not Linux.

    Thanks!

Check out "Ghost for Linux". Some info here. I've not used it so I can't comment on how well it works but sounds like it's what you're looking for.
