    Question Run Beryl on startup

I have just installed Beryl, and it works fine. However, having to manually start it up and choose 'Beryl' and 'Aquamarine' in the Beryl menu is really irritating. Is there a way to make it start automatically, with Beryl as the window manager and Aquamarine as the window decorator? At the moment, Compiz runs on startup but not Beryl.

NOTE: I have tried the method on the openSUSE website, and it didn't work.

Are you running Gnome or KDE? If you are using Aquamarine I'm guessing KDE.

If you are running Gnome, go to gnome-session-properties and disable Compiz on the startup tab, and add a new setting for beryl-manager.

If you are using KDE go to ~/.kde/Autostart and remove the script/link for Compiz and add a link for beryl-manager instead. Log off and log in again.

    Autostart scripts

If you create the autostart scripts as described by bigtomrodney and outlined on the page provided by serjant2005, you will be all set up. I had the same problem, but the instructions found on http://www.en.opensuse.org/Beryl totally fixed it, and it turned out to be the autostart scripts. Give that a try and you'll probably be all fixed up.
