    3D acceleration with nvidia drivers

Hey there all, newbie here. I have searched for the answer to my problem but I havn't found what I am specifically looking for.

I am running suse 10.2 and I have installed the nvidia drivers correctly (afaik). The nvidia logo appears on boot, I have the nvidia control panel and my resolution is now supported when it wasnt beforehand (1680x1050).

The problem lies with the 3d acceleration. I have an nvidia 7600GT which worked fine in windows yet I cant seem to enable 3d acceleration in suse. In sax2, the option for 3d acceleration at the bottom of the screen is greyed out, restricting me from enabling any desktop effects. Also in sax2 my video card is apparently 'VESA Framebuffer Graphics'. Dosnt look right to me.

Anyone know how I can fix this? Keep in mind that I believe the drivers are installed correctly.

    Thanks.

    drivers

keep in mind I don't have my computer in front of me... in sax2, you will see your video card and a drop down box. look in there and make sure it looks right. below that is your monitor and another drop down box. make sure it is set right and maybe turn it down to 1024x768 just to test. click ok and run the test. if there is no 3d ( an x over 3d) you don't have the drivers loaded properly. I had to load my ATI drivers 4 times before they worked..never did figure out why.. Good luck

    Thanks for the reply Tom.

I do not have any drop down box in sax. Here is exactly what my window shows-

When I click on the 'Options' tab next to the Card, this is what I get-

As for the drivers, I am 100% sure I installed them correctly. I tried both using sast and doing them manually, both had the same result. I have the nvidia control panel, I was able to set my resolution higher and access 24bit color which I couldn't before I installed them.

I am really stumped on this. I can't figure out why it inst working.

I wouldn't worry about that sax option. The best thing do is open a terminal and run
    Code:
    glxgears
It will spit out your FPS rating. If it is up in the thousands you're alright

I would expect from that card to see 4000fps+ at least.

    Hehe, 10,000fps.

But I still can't enable 3d acceleration or use desktop effects.
