recently i installed suse10.2(kde) and i found terrible errors..my gosh!!!...two new characters are introduced and some missing. ¬ and £ are the new characters and i lost a character ...

my keys got exchanged.......
hi,
recently i installed suse10.2(kde) and i found terrible errors..my gosh!!!...two new characters are introduced and some missing. ¬ and £ are the new characters and i lost a character called PIPE which i desperately need in shell programming. is there any possible ways to get back my missing characters.... and one more thing my @ and " got exchanged too.
please help me guys!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the LinuxForums.
try different keyboard layput. open terminal/konsole and execute this
try 'us' too.Code:setxkbmap gb
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

did you execute 'setxkbmap' in konsole?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Did you try a different keyboard? Is the keyboard one of those non standard ultra-multimedia types??

thanks it works on using different keyboard....my keyboard doesn't seem to be the standard one.,.....
