    Gaim messenger

    Hi there,
    I am a new Suse 8.1 professional user, I have been using windows all my life and within the last week it went down (for bout the 3milionth time) so i decided to give this ago instead! I have been trying to get Gaim to connect to MSN but i cannot connect. The problem started as a proxxy problem, (cnt remember exact wording) so i changed a few settings and now it tries to login but then im being told that

    ....Unable to sign on : error reading from server

    I have also tried to download amsn but still avent sussed out how to actually install things yet!!this aint a problem for the time being, i just need to get on MSN so i can talk to me girlies!! LOL
    so if any1 could offer some advice into this problem it would be very much appricated

    a fellow Bristol boy

    SuSE 8.1 is knocking on a bit. Are you using the version of Gaim that came with the Distro?? If so try a newer version, but you'll need to check it's requirements.

    SuSE 8.1 is really old, the last version is 10.2 and it will work much better than the one you are using right now.
    Maybe the MSN protocol changed and your old Gaim is not able to sign in because it's outdated
