    Resolution

Installed openSUSE this morning, installed great and everything, but when I got to the desktop I could only see half the screen. I adjusted the resolution in Configure Desktop>Display>Screen Size to 1024x786, but the screen was still cut off. In addition, it was very choppy like an image that had been stretched out. I guess the resolution was fine, but was being stretched out outside my monitor. When I went into the settings on my monitor to adjust screen position, I could move the screen to see either side, but not shrink it to see all of it. Then I changed resolution in Administrator Settings>Hardware>Graphics Card and Monitor. As I hit apply, then test, it brought me into a screen with "XFine2" and arrows to adjust the screen position. I though 'perfect', and quickly shrunk down the horizontal axis so that it fit on the screen. The pixels were no longer stretched. I closed out, restarted when prompted, but when I got back, nothing had changed! I was still looking at half a screen. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Keep in mind i am very new to Linux, I started using it only a few days ago. Thanks. - Jeremy

Did configure your graphics and monitor?

    Yast-Harware-Graphics card and Monitor

Or you can go to a text screen (ctrl-alt-F1) log on as root and run sax2

This might be the better option since your screen is messed up now.
