List of packages for full multimedia support in openSUSE 10.2?

    Hello everybody,

I want to install openSUSE 10.2 for a friend of mine, whose computer isn't networked. For this, I need to download all packages for mp3/dvd/... support beforehand.

Can you tell me the list of rpm's I need to download from packman or other sources (incl. dependencies which aren't available on the SUSE CD's)?

    Cheers,
    buschaot

If you're going to the packman site I would recommend downloading all of the xine packages and mplayer along with the w32-codecs package. Also have a look at http://videolan.org to try and get the libdvdcss rpm to enable DVD plyback.

Beyond that I would recommend all of the totem packages if you use Gnome, or all of the Kaffeine packages if you use KDE.

    rip entire Packman/Guru

If you have lots of bandwidth with a very high speed connection, and some time on hand, your best bet is to rip the entire Packman and Guru web sites, and burn the rpms onto some data DVDs.

Else you will keep stumbling up against dependency errors.
