    Suse dvd movie backup

Hi, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread!
Basically I'm quite new to linux and I've tried several distros and have decided upon suse 10.2. My main aim for this linux machine is to rip my dvd library onto the hdd and use it as a sort of media center. Now, after spending some time downloading the rpms to allow me dvd playback I'm now stuck as what to use to rip the dvds to the hdd in a format that something like xine or Kaffeine will playback. Any suggestions?

P.S. I've read about something called k9copy? Would this do?

    Thanks for any replies!
