Have you tried as root?

did you try it as root?
log in as root and execute this
in KPPP, select /dev/rfcomm0 modem and in Modem Commands, connection string should be ATD. its ATDT by default.Code:rfcomm bind rfcomm0 <cell address> 1
try to connect and check if it works.
i am using AirTel GPRS connection through Nokia 6600 right now.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

okk.. execute 'rfcomm bind' command and check if it works. you must be logged in as root. we will enable normal user access after solving this problem for 'root' user.

The command rfrcomm bind rfcomm0 1(address) executed ok. Problem is I cant start kppd so I used smpppd instead by typing the command rcsmpppd start.

Note that the command sdptool search gives the exact output below: -
sdptool search DUN 00:13:FA:CF:47
8
Failed to connect to SDP server on 00:13:FA:CF:47
8. Permission Denied
(just a thot, how come my details (#,country etc)dont appear under my name yet i registered?) Anyway, not my main issue here
