This may seem a bit weird but I'l go on. I've just fallen back to SUSe 10.2 after a month with Vista, where I've recently started accessing the internets using a wireless connection. I've an intel 3945 pro wireless card on Dell 6400 notebook and an ISP provided router as the access point.
Now, I know there ae some issues with suse and wireless configs but decided to give it a go. On Vista, I use a static IP config with a gateway address (my ADSL router: 192.168.1.1) and preferred/alternate DNS servers. So all the n/w info has to be filled in before I can hope for a web access. (But tehe manual from ISP asks to use a DCHP configuration oO, anyways). But in suse, I'e tried everything from DHCP to static IP config, but it just doesnt work.
In the static IP config, suse manages to connect to my router (RT2561_6) but keeps on asking for passkey again and again, which after sometimes fails to connect, and at other times, the wireless connection is just on and connection is working after booting. SO its kinda random. The ping ends up pinging my local wireless n/w card IP address 192.168.1.8 instead of the router's IP where the answer is destination host unreachable.
In the DHCP configuration there are similar errors when conncetion. I cannot open the router web page either.

So everything is detected fine, but i dont know what the real problem. I use a 5 digit WEP key in the manages operating mode and tried naming the ESSID key to both 'any' and the name of my access point.
I dont exactly know the meaning of having a default keyring function but I suppose its something to permanently store andyour passkey, which I've set it to the WEP key.
WHat should be my next step? I have ndsiwrapper in the kernel but havent found any need to install it, as my card has been detected properly.
I read some pages regarding similar problems but coulndt actually get through. Any help would appreciated. Thank you.
