    From the command line, login as root and then type "YaST", If you remember what you changed there is a possibility to undo it.

    Some hardware needs special command options used with sax2, in order to get sax2 to function. Please tell us what graphic hardware you are using. You can do this by typing from the failsafe:

    su (enter root password)
    sax2 -p

    Please post the output here.

    ok i did sax2 -p
    this is what it cam out w/

    Chip: 0 is -> VIA Technologies, Inc. KM400 01:00:0 0x1106 0x7205 AGP via

    i also tried getting into yast but when i tried to enter the graphics card and monitor section it acted like it was doing something but then would just stop and i was back to the yast hardware menu.

    I am running a Compaq SR1500NX with on board video and 768 megs of RAM. if that helps i hav never added a video card to the computer and i was playing a game in wine and it changed my video settings so i went to yast then hardware then Graphics card and monitor to change it back and i think i changed it to the wrong video settings or maby i corrupted data in X11 system would reinstalling this help? if so how would i go about doing that?

    Try a vesa driver

    I have read that a vesa driver works with your chipset.

    Try booting to run level 3 (such as failsafe mode). Log in as a regular user. Then type "su" to get root permissions. Then try a vesa driver in sax2 as follows:

    sax2 -m 0=vesa (that is zero equals vesa). Choose a conservative setting. Test the graphics.

    After you are finished type "exit" to get rid of root permissions. Then type "startx" to test your xwindows. If that works, exit right away.

    Type "su" again to get root permissions, and type "shutdown -r now" to reboot.
