    Installing K9copy problems

    Hi

I'm a Linux noob, and have currently decided on using suse 10.2 with KDE. I've managed to get my system to play back dvds with a great how to I found through open suse. In my last post I asked what application would be best to archive dvds onto my hdd. The reply I got was that I should use K9copy. So I trundled off to source forge and downloaded the k9copy rpm package and attempted to install it. How wrong I was, I've now run into a stream of dependencies and after spending ages looking on the net for them, things such as dvdauthor, I've given up! I seem to be downloading the wrong packages, installing them the wrong way and generally messing things up. Will anyone take pity in a lost user? Please could someone explain or point me in the direction of a how to or guide on the matter! Thanks so much for any replies.

Installing from source is an adventure

An RPM should be availablle from the same repositories you got your playback from I assume you added them (packman??) to Yast so simply go to Yast -Software-Software Management type k9copy in the search. Then check the box and install. Yast should resolve dependencies if it can. An Alternative is to use smart to install

    Thanks for the reply.

When I enabled playback I followed a tutorial and actually downloaded the rpms. The site was http://www.pctech101.com/dvd_playback.php
The yast way sounds good. I've searched in yast, as you said, but it won't find anything. I'm really sorry if I sound stupid!
If I add packman to yast then search will that help? How is this done?

I told you I was a noob! As is said, "everyone starts somewhere".
