    client config for eDir

    Dear Expert(s)
Ok, I have installed, eDir, on a SLES 10 machine(no slp configured), and create a user account, say cn=a.ou=IT.o=myorg
I installed Novell Client for Linux, on SLED 10.

as in NIS server or in MS Active Directory, we just create user accounts on NIS server , and AD Domain Controller, but not on the client machine... I just want this, using eDir... i.e I just create user accounts, in eDir, and from any eDir client machine(SLED 10 + Novell Client for Linux installed), user can logon in the eDir tree. is it possible ? how ?

    Plz help.
    regards

    Yes

Create the user in edirectory using imanager or console1.

Use the client to log on to the network. The novell login page has a advanced button where you specify the context and the tree.

    Thanks Ch@meleon for help
Ok, I think i should clear more.

what i need is that, I create user accounts on the eDir server(I can do this.. no prblm),
say I create an account on eDir server as cn=a.ou=IT.o=myorg, ok... then I can login on the machine/tree using cn=a.ou=IT.o=myorg(i.e no two accounts, one local account, and the other one for eDir.. no i dont want this)... so what to do on the client side(sled 10) ?
I can further explain my need/requirment,.. say I am running an NIS server, then I config all the machines(sled 10) as NIS client... now I JUST create user accounts, on NIS server ONLY, and from any NIS client machine, user can logon, using NIS-userid/passwd.... I dont have to create any aditional acount on client side.. simply single account on NIS server, and give the account info to the user, and user can logon on NIS Domain/machine, with that account using any any NIS client machine.... now same i want using eDir ?
    plz help

    Hi ch@meleon,
Ok I configure the Novell Client for linux, for "Integrated client login"... but this is not what I need ;( .
To "Integrate client login", I configured the CASA .. and every thing goes smooth.
"Integrated client login" is a good feature, it allows me automatically login, in the eDir Tree, but first i have to login on the client side(sled 10), using local account.
Ok what I need is following:
    ---------------------------------------
1, I created an account on the eDir server, named "a" with password "123" ( no prblm)
2, on SLED 10, when gdm/kdm ask "user id" and "password", I provide eDir userid/password, say "a", and password "123" ... failed

#2, is what I need, i.e when gdm/kdm ask for "user id" and password user provide the eDir userid/password, and logon successfuly.

using Integrated client login, when a user login on the sled 10, using local account, he/she will automatically logon on the eDir tree too... its a good thing but still requires local account.. and i dont want this "local account"

    Plz help
    regards

    Hi needee

Sorry for the late reply. I have not being ignoring you. I was busy with exams and I only got back today.

I will investigate further on your requirement. I have not done it the way you you require before...But I speak to some of the Novell guys and find out what they say.

    Regards
