SuSE 10.2 Install errors
Hi guys,
I'm new to linux and fill abit of a prat in saying this as it's somrthing simple that i'm doing wrong, I have suse 10.2 and have install it on to a new harddrive on my pc, the first tim i tried installing it said that a file was not on the disc, i then pressed ignore but then it said error so i rebooted the pc, The second time i installed i only installed base file i think it said and then it installed, right heres were i can't get past, Reboot screen comes up asking to boot or fallsafe, i boot, it then ask's for user name and password that logs in, it then says when i last loged in, have lots of fun and the says username@linux then 8 more letters, I think i need to write something in here but have no idea what to write and this is where i'm stuck, Could i have installed something wrong or is this normal.
Thanks guys and yes i know i'm a prat that fills very very silly

First of all, a missing file on the disc is most certainly not normal. How did you obtain the disc? Did you download an ISO? It's possible the download was corrupted. What speed did you burn the disc? If it was too high a speed your burn might have come out badly.
Your graphical environment was not set up correctly by the installer, which might be a direct result of the missing/corrupt files it complained about while you were installing. The first thing I would do is make sure you have a valid disc image by verifying the checksum of your ISO. There is an article on this here:

You got a bad disc. If at all possible I'd recommend you talk to your seller and see if he/she can send you another one. If not, there are cheap places online that will mail you discs for around $5-10USD. One is LinuxCD.org.
