    Can't install

In my pursuit to connect my Nokia 6630 to openSuse 10.2.. I downloaded packages from rpm.pbone.net containing the below mentioned files in RED and then went on installing each RPM one by one (because being newbie, I know no other way to install).. halfway I am now not able to install any rpm

Also I have upgraded my Kernel to latest version..

when I click on any rpm it launches asking for root password.. then for hours nothing happens.. if I try to install any new rpm now it launches YAST and ends with Massage that package management is busy reading another package.. and this situation remains till I reboot..

    PLZ HELP!!!!

Well, I don't use Suse and I haven't in a long time so I am a little rusty on my details. Why don't you just use yast to install what you need, instead of installing from rpms. For future reference, you can group all the rpms in one folder then just use rpm -Uhv *.rpm

If you still want to try installing from rpms, kill whatever is using rpm/yast.
    ps ax | grep yast
    ps ax | grep rpm

This is what I meant by
I am a little rusty on my details
I don't have the faintest Idea what ZMD is.

Open a terminal/konsole window, kinda like the dos prompt for windows. login as root, and type this command
    Code:
    ps ax
you'll see some output like this, slightly different.
    PID TTY STAT TIME COMMAND
    1 ? Ss 0:01 init [5]
    2 ? S 0:00 [migration/0]
    3 ? SN 0:00 [ksoftirqd/0]
    4 ? S 0:00 [watchdog/0]
    5 ? S< 0:00 [events/0]
    6 ? S< 0:00 [khelper]
    7 ? S< 0:00 [kthread]
    56 ? S< 0:00 [kblockd/0]
    57 ? S< 0:06 [kacpid]
    127 ? S< 0:00 [cqueue/0]
    128 ? S< 0:00 [ksuspend_usbd]
    131 ? S< 0:00 [khubd]
    133 ? S< 0:00 [kseriod]
    153 ? S 0:00 [pdflush]
    154 ? S 0:00 [pdflush]
    155 ? S< 0:00 [kswapd0]
    156 ? S< 0:00 [aio/0]
    331 ? S< 0:00 [kpsmoused]
    353 ? S< 0:00 [ata/0]

next time you get the msg about rpm is being used by another application, you can kill it, with the PID number. For example if I type kill 331, my mouse will stop working, until I restart kpsmoused.

Well I had a look at that thread, did you try the suggestion to rename the zmd.db and zmd.db-journal to something else?

    ZMD is running

Ya, I tried and ZMD status is now running...
still when I launch a RPM, it asks me for root password.. then nothing happens..
If I try to launch another RPM it gives the error message..
