Exclamation Mouse freezes after some time..

    Hi

I installed openSUSE 10.2 without any problems.

I use the Logitech Desktop LX700 and the os recognizes it as Logitech USB Receiver. The keyboard works well but the mouse always freezes up after some time.

The reconnect button under the mouse has no effect. I have to unplug the usb cable and replug it again. Of course only for some time...

I even changed the mouse with another usb mouse. Same procedure..

Meanwhile I changed the mouse settings to the following (taken from xorg.conf):

    Section "InputDevice"
    Driver "mouse"
    Identifier "Mouse[1]"
    Option "Buttons" "7"
    Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
    Option "Name" "ExplorerPS/2 on USB"
    Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
    Option "Vendor" "USB-Mouse"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    EndSection

But the problem remains. What do I have to do?

    Thx for help!

I have the same problem on 10.1 with a logitech wireless but in my case reseting the mouse does work and the mouse comes back.

The LX700 is also wireless. I have the Logitech USB Receiver connected on an usb port.

Did you figure out why it happens? I want to know what the problem is. Is it the usb connection, the mouse or an incompatibility with some other (usb-?)device? I have no clue and it is absolutely frustrating.

No, but I also have a KVM switch in the mix and I connect to the machines though the old mouse port (via an adapter) rather then to a usb port. Since it is only a very minor problem for me I have not tried to chase it down.

I suspect that it is a problem in the Logitech firmware since I've seen it do it in Windows also.

Get a USB to mouse port adaptor it may help in the reconnection by the reconnect switch.

I still could not figure out why the mouse sometimes freezes but changing from the usb to the ps/2 connector via an adapter works now.

The positive side effect is that I can use the usb port for other devices.. :/
