Toshiba M100 sound problem
Can any one help me to solve this problem ?
I have a toshiba satellite M100 laptop with me and my laptop is having sound problem my sound card is Realtech and it not working. It working on windows but its not working on opensuse 10.2
looking forward to replies

Why not replace the old sound card with one that works!
ok just kidding
Did you try to configure it in Yast? Run the test there and see if you get any sound.

Hi thanks for your reply. I have tried configuring through yast and also tested it but its not working. I have tried alsa sound also but its still not working. I have purchased a brand new laptop now it I give to the company back saying that sound is not working on linux they will say that its working on windows and you linux software might have some prroblem. so I cant calim for a replacement on toshiba because I need a valid reason for this to come in the warranty.

Press alt-ctrl-F1 this will get you to a virtual console
log on as root
type
init 3
to close the GUI
alsaconf
You should hear music at the end.
in any case type
init 5
to restart GUI
then press alt-ctrl-F1 again and type exit to log out of the root session on console 1
press alt-ctrl-F7 to move back to the GUI
