Question Kernel update gave strange effects

I have recently updated my kernel to 2.6.18.8-0.1 . After I had done this
, the entry for openSUSE failsafe mode disappeared from the GRUB boot menu. I know that this is easy to fix but I don't know how to. Also, yast nolonger works in text mode. When I type yast2, I get this error: /usr/lib/YaST2/plugin/libpy2ncurses.so.2: /usr/local/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version 'CXXABI_1.3.1' not found (required by /usr/lib/YaST2/plugin/libpy2ncurses.so.2)

I havn't the faintest idea how to fix this.

on the second part of your question - just type:-

    yast

    in the konsole

for the first part - I have tried to send the settings for the failsafe option from my p/c. To make the entry you need to:-

yast / system / boot loader / add

I'm just adding the failsafe bit, but typing yast in a konsole just says: command not found. Yast runs fine in GUI but not in text mode

Yup - I have been using yast in text mode for a long time and this is the first time that I got that error. I'm sure that it's because of the kernel update. I now get a similar error when I try to start konqueror: There was an error loading the module About-Page for Konqueror.
    The diagnostics is:
/usr/local/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `CXXABI_1.3.1' not found (required by /opt/kde3/lib/libkhtml.so.

This is a fairly large problem for me. Failsafe works fine now - thanks!

Ok just a simple question? Did you reboot?? You must always reboot after a kernel update. (about the only time you need to).

Yes, I did. This update happened two nights ago now and I have rebooted several times since then.
