    Desktop(?) problem

Last night I tried to install SuperKaramba but when I ran the ./configure command I received an error that I didn't have a C++ compiler installed. I opened Yast and installed the gcc c++ compiler fine but when I tried the configure command again I received an error that the file kdelibs has been moved and needs to be compiled again.

This is where the problems began, trying to launch Yast I received the root password prompt but after entering it nothing happens. I tried to open the terminal but it wouldn't open so I logged off and went on the root account. After it finished loading I was left with the default panel on the bottom with a grey background. The GNOME "slab" that pops up when you click the "Computer" icon in the bottom left was almost blank only showing the search bar, more applications button, HD status, and network status. The network manager program doesn't launch so I can't use wireless internet on the computer and none of my programs will launch only giving me an "Unsupported Operation" error. The desktop background won't load on either account and neither do any of the desktop icons. I can however access the failsafe terminal from the login screen but I have no idea how to fix this from the terminal.

I'm running OpenSUSE 10.2 with the latest kernel if it makes a difference.

It seems that you have to reinstall the kdelibs package.
You can do it from (failsafe) terminal.
    Try this:
    1. Login as root.
    2. Type "yast --install".
    3. Wait until yast showed up.
    4. Then press "Alt-F", "Alt-S".
    5. Then type "kdelibs".
    6. And select update/install kdelibs.
    7. Select "Accept".

    This method will re-install kdelibs.
