Unhappy ZMD not working after lock out

I had a problem with being ´locked out´, with which you great guys helped me with. Well, after logging in as single user, I created a new user, and I'm now in as that user. I noticed zmd is not working ( nor was as a root when I got back in). What can I do to make it restart? Your help much appreciated.

    Angry

I went to Yast>system services>enabled novell-zmd. Rebooted. The Gogle appeared for a few seconds and was again replaced for an X.??
Running "zypper install zmd", comes back with: zmd already installed.

    macho@linux-wwtz:~> su

    linux-wwtz:/home/macho # zypper install zmd

    I edited /etc/sysconfig/sw_management and set PREFERRED_SW_MANAGER_STACK="opensuse" . Is that a good idea?

    I also tried this:

    macho@linux-wwtz:~> su
    Password:
    linux-wwtz:/home/macho # zen-updater
    zen-updater is already running
    linux-wwtz:/home/macho #

What do you think? Any ideas as to what to do?

THe databases may be messed up

Go to /var/lib/zmd and rename files:

    zmd.db and zmd.db-journal, then reboot

anything but what they are currently named. Put a .bak on the end of the name. The idea is that on reboot they are not seen ( they have a different name) and the application builds them a new It is better to rename rather then remove them in case you would want to go back to the old versions. Of course if it works you would not want to go back. In that case you can then delete the old versions.

Thanks a lot! I'll try that right away.I'll let you know after I reboot.
The system doesn't allow me to do it. I did this:
    macho@linux-wwtz:~> su
    Password:
    linux-wwtz:/home/macho # cd
    linux-wwtz:~ # chmod 777 /var/lib/zmd
    linux-wwtz:~ #

    But, it didn't work.

Logged out. Logged in as root. Tried to view them: cannot do it. Message about " not permitted". How do you rename a file in Suse?. Because when you clicked them like in Windows, it doesn't change to allow you. Maybe is because I don't have permission period. Any help?

    macho@linux-wwtz:~> zen-updater
    zen-updater is already running
    macho@linux-wwtz:~>

    Last news:

    macho@linux-wwtz:~> rug refresh
ERROR: ZMD does not appear to be running.

Try stoping the service first. it may have the files locked.

The easiest way would be to go into Yast-System-System services and disable Novell-zmd. But you could also do it from the command line.

Or right click the icone and tell it to quit.
