Help Loggin Suse And Other Questions
Hi,
I have a very big problem. I need help in some ways, i am very stressed with all these situations.
Firs, i have an IBM server with a Suse 9.0 ( i think, because only show Suse 9 ), that have a SAP Server. A client request me to install a FTP and Samba access, and i want to install it with Yast. I am using 32 and 64 bit packages.
I am a expert Administrator of Debian, i use always Debian, and i move on it perfectly. For some reasons that i donīt know, when i use the last time Yast for install these packages ( for me, Yast is not good ), i have broken a lot of things of my suse:
- First. I canīt login into my Suse. I canīt from tty and from Graphical. I have lucky that i have an opened graphical session, that permits me to work.
This problem is hard. When i enter the user root ( for example ), directly the tty tells me: Login Invalid. They no tell me the password never. I think is a PAM problem? Kerberos problem? Also, i have another problem, that i canīt access remotely from SSH. When i use Putty, and i enter user root, for example, the server tell me: " No autentication methods are available ".
- Second. Yast donīt run. I think i have corrupt Perl, or another librareis. And error with p2ylang.so it show me. Like yast donīt run, i canīt update the distribution or i canīt know what packages i have corrupt. I have worked two days trying to install apt4rpm or apt, but itīs no possible. A lot of dependecies of packages.
This is my situation, a hard situation for me . I donīt know Suse, beacause i habitually donīt work with it, and i need help with this. Primary with the logon and SSH access, and then with the yast .. and other things.
How i can do ?
Has Suse 9 some option to reinstall saving the actual status.. .like a Windows Reparation?
How i can do ?
A lot of thx

I had a same problem with u, but I just wipe out the installation, and start a fresh one, since there's no data yet.
Some folks said (I forgot where I read that), there's workaround, by inserting your SuSE installation CD, and choose upgrade, it'll automatically repairs your corrupt installation. But I haven't tried that.
Maybe u can try?

Hi.
Thx for your suggestion.
I can probe it , but i Only CAN probe it if i were sure that the system will be the same that now.
For example, programs, sap, configurations donīt will be modified .. If i am sure whit this , i will probe it .
Have you some document or forum that tells about this ?
Regards and THX

I don't know about the system settings for SAP (I never use SAP), but for PAM and Kerberos, it'll stays the same, since it only re-installing some broken packages.
Here's some link from google:
