How do I read a .chm Document?
I downloaded an O'Reilly book and it came as a .chm document. What do I need to read it? or what do I have to do to it to make it readable? Thanks a lot.

There are 3 main programs for reading chm files. They are xchm kchm and kchmviewer. (There may be more but I don't know them) All 3 rely on the libchm library kchmviewer (I believe) has the fewest dependencies.

My personal preference goes toward xchm, which render the .chm files in the most standard way. Other viewers included gnochm (for Gnome) and kchhviewer (for KDE).

Thanks for the replies guys. I knew about xchm , but I'm afraid of its dependencies. Knew also about installing Konqueror, but I use Gnome. Is that possible? What about HelpExplorer?. Is there a package I can download for xchm or I have to compile. If I compile what is it that I have to look out for?. Any special directories? Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot antidrugue. I didn't know I had Konqueror. I started it from the command line, and when pointed to the file, it asked me for an application, so I installed kchmviewer with YaST, and the next time I pointed at the file, it poped up. I'm all set. Thanks a lot for your help and the help of others.
