You have the bare minimum of hardware for running xwindows. 233 MHz will be VERY slow for SuSE.

Anyway, try rebooting to run level 3 (a text mode), and then run the "sax2" program to configure your graphics. Then test it under sax2, followed by testing under xwindows, and if that works, then exit immediately, and reboot.

The detailed steps to do this are:
    1. reboot,
    2. type "level 3" in the options line of the grub boot menu (selecting SuSE-10.2),
    3. when you are at run level 3, with a login in prompt, login as a regular user.
    4. once logged in, type "su" (enter root password) to get root permissions.
    5. type "sax2" (if that doesn't work "sax2 -m 0=vesa") to configure your xwindows. Test the graphics. If the test is successful, exit sax2 back to the prompt.
    6. type "exit" to get rid of root permissions. Type "whoami" to confirm you are no longer root. If still root, type "exit" again.
    7. Once back to being a regular user, type "startx".
    8. If you succeed in reaching xwindows, then exit immediately back to the prompt.
    9. Once back at the prompt, type "su" (enter root password) to get root permissions.
    10. Type "shutdown -r now" to reboot.
    11. This time do NOT type "level 3" in the options.

    Good luck

the problem is, i dont get any boot loader screan. i only get a black screan with a blinking courser in the upper right corner.

the only boot screan i get is the boot screan when i am booting from the first setup cd.

you said I have the bare minimum of hardware for running xwindows.

witch linux didtribution wuld you recomand me?

did you change any option in Boot Loader section during installation?
boot up SuSe, open Terminal and execute this
    Code:
    su
    grub-install /dev/hda --recheck
reboot and check if GRUB Menu appears at startup. if it doesn't, execute these commands in Terminal
    Code:
    su
    fdisk -l
    less /boot/grub/menu.lst
post output of both commands here.

Distribution selection can be a very subjective and personal opinion. For starters, in the initial installation, I recommend you do a text install. Then during the installation select the minimum graphic setup. Do not select KDE nor Gnome, but select "OTHER".

I have not tried (much) the lower over head distributions, so hopefully others will chime in to provide a recommendation for a distribution that needs minimal cpu/memory.

Your not getting a boot loader suggests to me your installation was not successful.
