    Disable compiz

    I am haveing a problem with my compiz installation and I need to disable it and go to the default windows manager. When I boot up into compiz I can barely make out anything and i have to go into the text mode. How do i disable compiz VIA text?

    From a virtual terminal run
    Code:
    sudo gnome-xgl-switch --disable-xgl
    to disable XGL. That is of course assuming that you enabled it using the tool in gnome-control-center.

    oops, sorry, i should mention that i am using KDE... my bad.
    do i just replace "gnome" with "kde"

    How did you enable the effects? If you did it with SUSE's tools then that's the program that ran and there is no need to change gnome to KDE.

    Alternatively you can wait until your system boots, go to a VT by hitting ctrl+alt+F1 and logging in and then running
    Code:
    killall compiz
    You can then flip back to X using xtrl+alt+F7 and do all of your configuration in the GUI.
