Angry No sound @ Gateway MX6453 laptop (Suse 10.2)

    Ok here is the problem:
I have a gateway laptop MX6453 which uses the sigmatel drivers in windows for sound. In linux there are no sigmatel drivers. The alsa divers dont seem to work either, plus Linux recognises the sound card as being manufactured from ATI (? huh ??)
I just cant make it work. I dunno what to do. Note: I am a newbie too

Please any help would be appreciated.

I have read this laptop's sound will work with the new version of Alsa under development (Alsa 1.0.14rc2). I assume once Alsa-1.0.14 is complete/released, an rpm for SuSE will appear on packman for installation / download. So you could either wait (3 to 6 months maybe), or you could be forced to try a custom compile, which is not a task for a newbie.
