    hey every one i just installed open suse 10.2 side to side with windows xp
    but the problem is that i can't connect to the web with linux

    i mean in windows i just entered my ips and dns and voila it's done i'm online

    how to do so with open suse 10.2

    some info ,,,

    opensuse 10.2
    asus router AAM6000EVZ1
    i'm on a switch with my brother

    P.S the router web interface in chinese so i can't understand it

    You can enter your IP address and name servers in yast --> network devices --> edit the network card --> traditional method ifup -> at this point enter your IP address and other values via the buttons.

    i never tried the ifup so thanks i think i'll give it a try

    well that didn't work i tried to put all the info that my isp gave t me after i called them my ip ,the gateway, subnet mask , the 2 dns numbers
    that is it it's all info they gave me
    my router is allready config and is working just fine with windows xp even i reinstalled new windows and then new opensuse and the same problem
    in case of windows i just entered the later info and i'm online on it right now

    but in suse i tried all options in yast /netcard config and still nothing
    fire fox can't load pages ping not working

    what can i do ?? hope you can help

    Are you putting the same network configuration into both of your machines?

    When you think the Suse box is configured correctly, what dose the "ifconfig" output look like? You have to be root to run "ifconfig".

    When you are configuring, make sure you choose the right controller.

    kahoona i have only one pc and dual booting and every pc in my lan has his own ip

    i'll give you the output of ifconfig after booting to linux and back to windows

    pumalite i have only one lan card and i choosed it
