Epson Stylus Scan 2500 not working on SUSE 10.1
Dear Sir
My Epson Stylus Scan 2500 printer is not printing. Using SUSE 10.1 i see the following message in the YAST hardware/printers panel:
Epson Stylus Scan 2500 / printer
Connected As usb:/dev/usb/lp-1
With Spool printer
But when i try to print a test page, nothing prints even though the test job appears to get submitted to the print spooler.
When i first installed the OS i am sure that the printer was configured okay; then i tried to configure the scanner function of the printer (which is an all-in-one), also in YAST, but with no success due to lack of driver.
Since then, the printer has not been working.
Any suggestions as to how to fix this very annoying problem greatly received.
Thanks,

Have you tried reinstalling the printer?

epson stylus scan 2500 not working on SUSE Linux 10.1
Yes, i have tried deleting the printer configuration in YAST, restarting the OS and then adding a new printer in the Utilities, Printers section.
In Step 1: Printer Configuration, i let it auto-detect the printer as a local printer, and in Step 2: Printer Driver i let it use the default driver for Epson Stylus Scan 2500.
Then in the Printers status window, it appears with "Ready" under the icon.
In trying to submit a test page, the print job appears to go to the spooler, and yet nothing comes out of the printer.
I am completely confuzzled!
Anymore useful suggestions (short of using Windows xp!!) greatly received.

Sounds like the printer is not connected. Check the cable (yes they can go bad). Try another USB port.

hmmm...the only thing that comes to mind at the moment is your firewall policy ...more specifically tcp wrappers.
Have you been playing with /etc/hosts.allow? If thats the case you have to remember to allow local traffic, although from what you say it kinda sounds like the uninstall wasn't clean that is if the printer was working before."
