New Server with RAID capability - Don't know how to set it up.
Hi There,
Two days ago I received a new server that I ordered from Dell, it is a Power Edge 840 with the following:
Xeon 3060 2.6 Ghz (I think Dual Core) - 1066 Ghz FSB - 4MB Cache
4GB DDR2 - 533 Mhz (4x1GB)
SAS5iR Controller - Supports RAID 2-4 drives - PCI Express
Hot Swap Chassis
2x500GB SATA II HDD at 7200 RPM
BCOM TOE - not enabled (I have no clue what this is)
Single onboard Network adaptor - not TOE
My Question/Problem: I tried installing openSUSE 10.2 last night and there was a problem with the HDD. For some reason the computer is recognizing the two drives as 1 drive which is 1000GB instead of 2x500GB drives. So, when I get to the partition screen of the installation, I had to stop because it is wrong.
I tried to CREATE a new partition and remove the default ones, but it says when I try to setup the RAID-1 that I need to have at least 2 partitions of the type of 00xFD (or something like that).
Can anyone help me please?
