Exclamation cant mount cd rom! been trying forever!

okay, ill start from the beginning...
I have an Nvidia graphics card installed in my machine and I decided to dual boot with Winxp Pro and Suse. After installation of Suse, I cant even get as far as the configuration screen which I remember is there. When I boot up, it freezes, so I've been researching Nvidia issues and I was following the sticky about the Nvidia drivers but I cant install the kernel source or gcc through yast.

I tried to but it asks me to enter a CD, so I popped it in and it said that it could not mount the cd rom

    cd:/// ?devices= /dev/hdc on /: mounting media failed

    what do I do? HELP

I've seen that happen on 10.2

    Two options

1)If you have a highspeed connection you can download the source the compiler You will need to add Installation sources to YAST It is about 100 meg download

    2) boot from the install disk and do an update it will give you the option of selecting programs and packages Install the kernel source and the gcc compiler.

    Package Sources/10.2 - openSUSE-Community

Additional YaST Package Repositories - openSUSE

You will need them for other things like Multimedia any way.

I just tried to boot from CD but I got lost. it only gives me options for regular boot from HD or different installation options.

should i be looking for something in particular in the boot options?

Those URL's are long I always copy and paste. But then I'm lazy

It is also possible that the URL is busy or enven down at that moment. I just test the URL in the browser and it works.

You are connected to the Internet?? Browser works and email???

well, i had the same problem trying to contact nvidias website through yast also. i tested the links in my browser and they work fine (im on a different computer as i surf)

the computer im tryign to configure, i dont think the net is working on there...i never got through the rest of the setup process because of my vid card issues..i know where it freezes at, right after that is where i set up all my hardware and user names, etc,...

You should not need the NVIDIA driver for basic Video. It only provides 3D acceleration. The VESA driver should be fine. You have someother issue happening here. I'm confused about what is happening. At one point it seems you are saying the install did not work and at another you are saying you are using YAST which seem to indicate you are at the desktop.
