    Does suse 9.1 support the xvid codec for xine


    the title says it all. i have almost every video i own encoded in xvid and i cant get it to play in xine. help!

    You may need to recompile xine from source if a codec has been specifically left out in the suse build. You can get the source for xine and libxine from www.xinehq.de. Remember to uninstall the packaged version of xine and libxine first!

    the only way to get xine to work on my SuSE 9.1 box was to not install or strip out xine and xinelib like jasonlambert says., then re-install like he says, from source...then add a certain little thing i probably shouldn't mention here.
