    i tried the following tricks...
    1. after logging as root
    smart install rpmkey*
    SuSEconfig
    ldconfig
    2. sudo rpm --import http://packman.iu-bremen.de/public-keys.asc
    sudo rpm --import http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/guru-rpm.asc
3.tried disabling the signature check .... no luck there 2
    4. went to packman and gurus site. translated the packman faq's in english and did as they told me.
    no luck

This is just a warning. True you should have the keys installed but from what you posted all went well, it just could not verify that the install RPMS as trusted. The install should have worked

Here is a link on setting up media in Suse.

    gave up

thanks for the help gogalthorp but i had already seen the jem report , suse wiki, opensuse forum and a lot more.
and after 1 week of hell (sorry, but it was that), i gave up
it turns that reinstalling windows or cracking it for that matter is way more easy than watching a video or installing sthg on linux...and much faster.
before i go , i would like to say a few things about suse
    1. excellent interface, love the graphics, the on dvd programs
    2. hate yast . veryyyyy sloww
    3. hate command line. konsole should be an alternative, not the only option.
    4. love the open office. way more cool than ms office.
    5. hate that you cant double click and install something. yast and smart are both 2 tedious, 2 full of bugs.
    6. hate the public key thingy.
    7. why cant i watch videos.
    8. help not clear enough, esp for a first time user with no hands on human help.
    9. loved how it detected all hardware and didn't have 2 install anything.
    10. loved how the mouse scroll was made use of optimally.
    think thats it.
i would love 2 use linux sometime in the future, given someone can help me hands on.
till then its back to windows.howeever i must give it to windows xp pro with sp2...very very stable
    till then goodbye

    Thats too bad

to answer a couple of your questions though

Yes The Yast-Zen interface is terrible slow. But it is being down graded in the 10.3 release

If you followed the Jem report or any of the others you should have been able to 1-play mp3's 2-played most video codec the exception is DRMd content. I have no problem with any of that.

The problem with multi-media is that distro's in general can't distribute the need software because of patent problems, so you have to install the stuff yourself.

Installing a downloaded RPM is a one click but it is a right click and a selection from a menu. But it is better to use a package manger like Yast-Zen or Smart since they will resolve any dependencies required particularly if you are new to Linux.

A lot of things don't require a command line solution but in most cases it is much easier to tell a new user to type "this" then a long explanation on how to navigate to a particular window and what to click when you get there. Also since you have complete control of the OS in Linux, unlike some other OS I could mention, but it is from the command line. This allows you to fix things even if for some reason the GUI is no running. Something you can't do in brand W.

Even in Windows I find a command line is very useful for some operations much more efficient then the GUI.

I don't know the problem you have with the public key thing. It is just a warning that the RPM in question may not be from a trusted source. It does not stop anything. It is normally fixed by registering the source as trusted. This is normal done when you first connect to the source and the package manager asks if you want to register the key. If you say no then the source is not registered and you will receive a warning if you try to install something from that source.

It is too bad you had a bad experience. Have you tried Ubuntu (gnome) or Kubuntu (KDE)? The new version is supposed to be very nice, and yes you must install the patented parts yourself.

Well good luck any way with the OS of your choice.
