... the eternal need for multimedia support in linux will be its undoing. I've just installed/upgraded from SuSe 10.1 to 10.3 and now my mp3s don't work. I double click the mp3, and I get an xine error for Kaffeine that "no plugin found to handle this resource (file name.mpg).

    Thanks in advance!

You can just go into YaST > Software Management and change all of your sources from 10.1 to 10.3 and allow the software updater to upgrade all of your packages.

I think it should be mentioned that SUSE 10.3 is in alpha stage and is only for testing. Many things will be broken and it would be much better to run 10.2.

Yes redo what you did to get it working with 10.1

Basically you need to download and install the same stuff you did with 10.1

Also you do understand that 10.3 is a Beta and it is very possible every package you might want or need may not yet be available for it as an RPM and that somethings may just not work?

Now if only I could remember what I did originally

I realize the nature of "alphas" and am willing to take the associated risks ... for without risk there is no reward

Surely someone has confronted this dilemma and can give more specific advise.

    Thanks.

Well I have not tried 10.3 but the basic things are the same but the details of how to do it may vary.

    This is instruction for 10.2

If you did an upgrade then it is possible that bigtomrodney is right and all you need to do is an update.

It is easiest to do this with smart since you can just do an update all. As I understand 10.3 is droping the zen updater so I can't help on how to do it the new way. I'd use smart, but don't know if there is a version for 10.3 yet.
