Is this a second hard driver or the primary? Is anything else installed on it? What is the current partitioning look like?

Did you have Suse installed on the previous hard drive?

You need to give more info about the problem. It does not work is not enough to troubleshoot.

Which version of SuSe are you trying to install?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Well here is the complete info..My HDD was a barracuda 129gb IDE..It was recently burnt due to some reason and I had it replaced to have a new hdd of the same type.I loaded windows xp into it and then downloaded the opensuse 10.2 from suse site..and burnt it with the slowest speed possible..2x
I have only 1 hdd and a dvd writer and a dvd rom. the channel 0 master is the hdd and the channel 1 master is the writer and the channel 1 slave is the dvd rom.
I downloaded both the 64 bit and the 32 bit suse.I have an athlon64 3000+ machine and an msi rs480m2 m/b whose chipset is ATI ixp200 and in both the dvd s the installation gets stuck while trying to load the msi ATI ixp ide controller
    "loading atiixp_"
it gets struck in this message..I have tried for 30 mins but it does not change..
plz tell me if any more info is needed..I urgently need to install suse as I have to practice java and oracle in linux for my campus interview..starting soon..
    PLZZ help!!!

boot up from Suse Installation CD/DVD, highlight Installation title and type all-ide-generic. press Enter key. post error message, if any.
