'Unable to mount the CD-ROM' Installation Problem

When I try to install openSuSE 10.2 I get the error 'Unable to mount the CD-ROM' I pretty much know the reason is that my motherboard only has one ide slot and therefore the drive shows up as /dev/sdb. Many other distros have the same problem too with my computer. So I'm wondering if I can manually put in the cd drive location? Or is there some universal linux thing to fix this next time I try another distro? Sigh, if not back to kubuntu...

    Help Appreciated.

There is no problem so complicated that you cannot find a very simple answer to it if you look at it in the right way

Check to see if the jumpers are set to master on both the CD and Hard drive. If you have two ide channels be sure that the CD is on the second cable. If on a single channel be sure that the CD is on the second connector ( the last one)
