    Welcome to the forums

I use ext3 exclusively, but each user has his/her own opinions on filesystems.

The easiest thing is to use whichever one your chosen distribution
wants to use by default. In fact, a lot of people advise not to create
or format partitions ahead of time, but let the installation program
    do it all.

EXT2 is the common file system used by Linux. EXT3 is newer
and has journalling, which apparently makes it more robust against
power outages, unclean shutdowns etc. Reiser is yet another advanced
file system that many people like. Unless you already have strong
preferences, it won't matter much. Your system will work.

For most home users, ext3 or reiserfs will be fine. Some distros default to ext3, some to reiserfs depending on the preferences of the distro maintainer.

Thanks a lot for the help guys, very much appreciated, I did try first the automatic version during an installation attempt but SUSE gave me some error messages about not being able to touch/change partition in the disk so this time I will try with Partition Manager.
    Again Many Thanks
