    OK I'm lost...HELP!!!

I've installed a newer version of Java on my suse 9.3 system.
I followed all directions and when I do a java -version/fullversion , I still get the old version displayed.
I went to /etc/profile.d and found seral places where java might be getting loaded. I changed all those paths(some invalid) to point to the new java..still no go
I did an echo $PATH and looked to see if maybe I was missing something I see the java path I entered but I'm also picking up this path:
    /usr/lib/jvm/jre/bin
which poins to the old java.

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego .no no(to many kid shows..lol) is the path coming from??

    thanks
    mace

Did you tried to uninstall jdk and jre first and after install the new versions of them?
Linux is not only an operating system, it's a philosophy.
