You can use YaST to configure the firewall

It depends on your ISP, or the IP of the DNS server on your network. If you can resolve host names (or browse the internet) they should be just fine

SuSE has a firewall config file /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2 which is updated by yast. I personally find it much more convenient to update the file with an editor (In the file there are a lot of comments and descriptions of all the settings). If you are familiar with iptables you can add your own iptables rules in a file called /etc/sysconfig/scripts/SuSEfirewall2-custom (don't forget to uncomment the line for the custom file in SuSEfirewall2 )
