I am trying to install Gnuitar program for linux Suse and I am not sure how to do it. I have gotten as far as opening the tar ball sucessfully but the progam is still not installed. any suggestions? please help!

Gnuitar Install
Thank you for the tip but now I come up with a error message saying:
configure: error: no acceptable C complier found in $PATH
any suggestions on how to resolve this?
please help.

You don't have the gcc compiler installed. Insert your openSuSE dvd and from Yast->software management install gcc

Gnuitar Install
Great tip everything was loading fine until I got an error message saying:
configure: error: Test for GLIB2 failed.
should I load the suse dvd and run yast to install GLIB2?
really in the dark about what GLIB2 is a little history on it would help also. (I will google it first .)
It's funny because I try to install the program and it's like installing, installing, INSTALLING oh no can do it. lol
well, please send me some suggestions we will get the program running soon. THANKS!

Just check if you have glib2 installed.
If it is already installed, unfortunately I don't know what is going wrongrpm -qa glib2

Gnuitar Install
Okay Glib2 is installed I didn't have it before so I Installed off the suse dvd. did the install and l everything loaded fine program is installed but still no icon I trien to got to the gnuitar website to see if there is some command line I need to run but could'nt find anything. so Hmmm????? GTK2 is good and loaded. so is GLIB2 cause I just installed it. any suggestions or did I skip anything?

Just type gnuitar in the konsole. Just to let you know ubuntu studio is released and has a good recording application!

Gnuitar Install
Success!! You are the man!!, Dude I found it, it was in the /usr/src/pacages/SOURCES/gnuitar-0.3.2/src/gnuitar file so I put the gnuitar on the desktop and it opened thanks for the tip. I will look into that recording software thanks for your help it was great!
