any kudzu equivalent utility ?
is there any kudzu(in redhat) equivalent utility under suse ?
ok I give you gurus a case...
I have installed a suse 10, on machine A, then move the hdd of machine A to machine B.
Now machine B mainbord is same as of mahcine A, but machine B has different NIC, and Sound Card installed.
under redhat, it so simple, kudzu take care of this, it checks all the old/removed/previous hardware and ask you to either remove or keep the hardware(module), since it also check for the new hardware, it also ask you to add the new hardware(automatically add the right module for the detected device)... and its DONE
under suse .. i didnt find such a tool/utility that automatically detects the newly installed devices.
ok i accept that there is a utility name "yast <module>"... say "yast lan" but its not equivalent to kudzu(in redhat).
for example, I have a 3com 3c905 NIC installed in my machine, i did the following
# yast lan
> then select the 3c509 nic > "Delete" > Next > Finish
after doing the above excercise, I reboot the machine, but suse didnt detect the NIC automatically.
Now I have to manually run the
# yast lan
> Add > List > select the module(3c905)
here i have to select the right/exact module for my nic(what if i didnt remember the right module for the device ?)
I hope you guys got my point yet
Anyone here can plz comment/suggest and share their knowledge

then after boot... what detects ? any utility/command ?

modprob

But if it did not detect the change the first time it is unlikely to detect the change the second.
AFAIK You would have to configure through Yast or editing config files.
