upgrading motherboard
i'm currently running suse 10.2 and windows xp on same drive i wanna upgrade my motherboard i'm currently running a sempron 3000+ but with 512mb ddr 400 ram i wanna upgrade this to may be an athlon or pentium and put more ram but to do this the cheapest way is to get a new motherboard coz the price tis cheaper to get new motherboard which supports ddr2 ram .
Now i was wondering would i have to reinstall my windows and suse or is there a way i can sort out my OS without reinstall

Windows will have to be reactivated. ie you will need to call MS and beg them for a number. You may need to reinstall or install some drivers.
Linux - assuming you get a motherboard that has no problem with it should just boot Note if you get a dual core processor you will want to install the SMP kernel to support both cores. But the default kernel should boot it will just run on a single core

As of kernel 2.6.18 there is no seperate SMP kernel, SMP is detected during runtime and activated if needed. I guess this was for the increasing trend in multi core CPUs.

No not at all. Linux does not need to be reinstalled. The advice was that should you find yourself with a dual core CPU Linux will work better with the SMP kernel. A better scenario would be that if you are using a recent distro that has a new kernel even that would not be necessary.

You really should not have to "repair" windows. At most you will need to boot to safe mode and remove the drivers for the old mother board. Reboot and install any new drivers.
