    ZMD to Smart transition problems

After getting annoyed with ZMD, I have decided to switch to Smart. So far, I have disabled ZMD in system services, and installed Smart, Smart-gui and ksmarttray.

Every now an then, a KDE alert window pops up saying that smart-update failed to run. It appears that smart-update needs to be run as root. Is there anyway that I can make smart-updater work, or disable it altogether?

    Thanks
