Replacing a BIOS should only be done by an expert!!!!! You can truly kill your machine.

Why do you think the BIOS you currently have is bad?

The first thing you need to do is discover if your
    motherboard is supported.

    Smile Hi gogal

Hi gogal thanks for you reply, hey I dont want to play with the bios but when I installed ubuntu linux at boot it was showing bios bug so I upgraded my bios from the toshiba website for my model that is satellite M100 PSMAAA but at that time the bios drivers given are common for all M100 series that is PSMAAA, PSMAOA etc so when I upgraded it the sound is not working on windows. Now when I again went to the website then I found that toshiba has changed the drivers for a particular model that is M100 PSMAAA and M100 PSMOAA and there was no bios drivers in my model and also they have given drivers for vista only as this model came with preinstalled vista home edition now I want to install XP and the sound driver is not working because I have upgraded the bios for the model M100 PSMAOA.

Do you know how to bakup the bios because I have not back up the bios and my friend is having the same model so may be is can use the bios of his.

I also want to tell you that my sound is not working in open suse, ubuntu and other distros except free spire. only free spire Ao my sound so i want to file a bug report on it so can you tell me where to file it.

My configuration is TOSHIBA M100 PSMAAA

    Bios type : Phoenix
    Bios Date: 01/02/07
    Chipset : Intel 27A0 rev3
    ACPI : 1.0

    looking forward to your reply

Well, replacing you BIOS can easily turn your $300 mainboard into a useless paperweight for ever. There are specific instructions on the LinuxBIOS home page about backing up your BIOS (this will requiere extra 'physical' tools) ... sorry but I can't forgive myself not saying RTFM
