about chat sever

i want to ask some questions about chat servers.
1-there are chat server
2-if exist how i can download or it's site or its name

Depending which chat servers you are looking at, the most common would be IRC, which is probably the best too imho. I use it on my comp. UnrealIRCd 3.2.6 which you can get from cPanel® however it seems as if they are down or have re-installed apache or something...and the cPanel message is coming up.

IMHO = In my humble opinion, you can come have a look at mine yourself by using any irc client and joining irc.cryptnet.dyndns.org on port 6667.

Good luck, there are a couple out there, search google for "Free IRC server Download" something like that. After that you will have to get Anope IRC services, which allows you to register nicks with NickServ and channels with ChanServ etc. To connect to your own server you can just use /server localhost from within your IRC client.
