[SOLVED] Default speaker unusable by SuSE 10.0

    Hi

I am running SuSE 10.0 on a Sony Vaio VGN-C25. The problem is that SuSE is not able to use the speakers that are included with the laptop. There are, in my opinion, no issues with the soundcard as I can hear the audio when I plug in my headphones. The relevant lspci output is included below:
    Code:
    command@machine: lspci | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Class 0403: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in anticipation

So I found the solution on ubuntuforums
have a look at the third post....the problem discussed is the polar opposite and that too on a different laptop but nevertheless is completely equivalent to my problem...
