    change default X session suse 10.1

    I had my home partition deleted and , recreated , so my home folder was missing at the first reboot after the partitioning and kde couldn't start . At the second reboot gnome started .. and now it's the default X session ..somehow .I recreated my home folder and gave it the necessary permissions. How can I make kde may default X session again ?

    Go to /etc/sysconfig/desktop and make the following changes

    DESKTOP="KDE"
    and
    DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"

    This should fix it

    there's no desktop file in sysconfig

    hmmm try switchdesk kde and if that doesnt work, then add the file listed above and add the two entries. It should work

    that comand didn't work . neither did creating and editing the file .

    hmm then im not sure. I have a suse box here and when I do either of those steps it works. Not sure why it isnt for yours. Try <Linux> - Google Search and see if you can come up with anything there

    Log out of gnome this should bring you to a log on screen. at the bottom left select the desktop manager you want then log back in.

    Or click your session but and change it there. I think this is an option for Suse

    Logging out and choosing kde session did it. Thanks !
