search the asus website for linux nic drivers. The package should contain a readme file explaining how to install it. Come back if it doesn't work

You must use the Linux drivers. Are you sure you are not trying to install Windows drivers?

Ok guess what, you do not have the Kernel source installed, it is missing.

Install the kernel source via Yast-software-Software management. It is on your install disk.
While you are at it make sure you have gcc, and make installed also.
