Dual Monitor setup with ATI Radeon card

I have Suse 10.0 installed on my laptop. I have installed the ATI drivers. As a root user I can have the dual displays working properly. I can drag windows from one display to another without any problem. But, when I login as non-root user then the desktop is duplicated on the second display. What configuration file do I need to modify to get this to behave in the way it behaves for the root login? Any pointer is much appreciated.

Yes. The ATI driver installer took care of that.
