Unhappy No Audio on new install Suse 10.2

I am a linux newbe and just installed suse 10.2. Fumbled through but was able to load my ati drivers for radeon 1600 graffics card. Now i am trying to get audio to work from my onboard realtech acl 883. I have checked the user management box, and tried the alsaconf and still no audio.

Radeon X1600 graffix card ati drivers
    Maxtor 200 gig sata
    Sony cd/dvd rom
dual boot with XP 64 bit

Please help, so far I love linux compared to windows. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

    Thanks,

By the way, you are only new to linux, the reason you love MS Win.

    1. Open SuSE Plugger from the system tray.
    2. Expand the Sound Card tree button. Select your sound card, whichever model you have and click configure.
    3. Increase the volume of your card by 100%.
    4. Click the Testbutton. If you heard a sound, your SuSE 10.2 is just the thing for you.

    Hello jschafer

I have same motherboard and similar specs as you have but I can not finished the installation as it keep fails during installation.

Which option did you use for boot screen?
    ACPI disabled / local acpi disables/ safe-settings

I can go upto desktop selcetion (Gnome/ kde) then 'installation settings (as recommended by suse default) then it fails during actuall installation.

    Any help would be great!!

    Thanks
    Eddie

    Hi

    Thanks for your response.
I tried again (after installing ubuntu) to get exact error message, somehow installation was success - nothings has been changed though.

Anyway, I also have audio & NIC issue.
It doesn't recognize onboard nic. I am not too worried about audio but I really need nic to work. Any tricks that you have to do to get NIC to work please?

    Thank you
    Eddie
