Hi there!

I recently installed suse 10.2 on my brother's laptop and can't get the internal modem working. It was working on suse 10.0 with the smartlink softmodem driver so I downloaded it for suse 10.2. I installed the rpm and as root in a terminal I ran: "/etc/init.d/slmodemd start"
And I got: "Starting Smartlink Modem driver: startproc: exit status of parent of
/usr/sbin/slmodemd: 255 failed

I also tried looking in yast>hardware>hardware information>modem>AC'97 Modem Controller>Drivers>Modules

and it says:
active: No
modprobe: Yes
modprobe slamr

But when I type "modprobe slamr" into a terminal it says:
FATAL: Module slamr not found.

This laptop doesn't have a serial port so I can't use an external serial modem and we can't get broadband so I need the internal modem to work!

Any help much appreciated.
